Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC Unveiled

      

        Qualcomm now unveiled its new Chipset for mid-range smartphone Snapdragon 675. Snapdragon 675 is an upgrade of Snapdragon 670 which was launched in August as the successor of Snapdragon 660 SoC.

This new chipset has used 11 nm LPP technology, an octa-core Kryo CPU, and Adreno 612 GPU. 

By Snapdragon 675 Qualcomm wants to cover some key areas like gaming, photography and artificial intelligence.

Snapdragon 675 will support Quick Charge 4+ technology that debuted last year and provides faster charging experience in many devices.

Snapdragon 675 comes with Adreno 612 GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3.2, Open CL 2.0, Vulkan and DirectX12.  There is also 4K video playback support as well as DisplayPort over USB Type-C compatibility. To enhance the gaming experience Snapdragon 675 SoC has Aqstic audio codes and smart speaker amplifiers, native DSD support, aptX audio playback along with support for apX classic and HD.

According to Qualcomm this new SoC will reduce gaming  “Junk” over 90 percent .

For online games this new SoC has Snapdragon X12 LTE modem with support for up to 600Mbps LTE connectivity. In this SoC there is tri-band, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac 2x2 with with MU-MIMO. 

Here Snapdragon 675 SoC also support direct direct audio broadcast to multiple devices and has ultra-power wireless headphones support through Bluetooth 5.0V and proprietary enhancement, including Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo technology. 

According to Qualcomm that Snapdragon 675 SoC will offer 30% faster game launch time, 35% faster web browsing and 20% faster music launch over the previous Snapdragon SoC.

In terms of image Snapdragon 675 SoC has Qualcomm Spectra 250L ISP for 14-bit image single processing along with support for up to 48-megapixel snapshots, Single 25-megapixeel at 30fps with Zero Shutter Lag (ZSL) and dual 16 megapixels at 30fps and ZSL.

Mobile divices with Snapdragon 675 SoC can support upto three rear camera sensors along with 5x optical zoom, with support of Portrait Mode and Bokeh effect as well as enable HDR to reduce noise and enhance colors.

In terms of Video Snapdragon 675 SoC has Ultra-HD (4K at 30fps) video recording support with Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering and HD (720p) Video Recording at 480fps.

 In terms also security Snapdragon 675 SoC will support 3D face Unlock  features.  With technologies such as Megvii (Face++), NetEase, SenceTime, Thundersoft and Trio AI Qualcomm Snapdragon 675SoC also enable mobile payment security.

Snapdragon 675 SoC comes with Kryo 460 CPU that comes as an octa-core processing unit with two cores of Cortex-A76 and Six cores of Cortes-A55. Snapdragon 675SoC has also provide a Hexagon 685 DSP vectors extensions and all-Way Aware Sensor Hub.

With the presence of Qualcomm Aqstic Voice UI on the Snapdragon 675 also makes it capable of working with multiple Voice assistants – without consuming a large amount of power.

Here Snapdragon 675 SoC supports up to full-HD+ Display panels, 8GB 1866MHz LPDDR4x RAM, GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and SBAS, as well as low-power geofencing and tracking and sensor-assisted navigation.

The quickCharge 4+ technology with snapdragon 675SoC will charge a smartphone battery from 0 to 50% in just 15 minutes.

Qualcomm claims that the devices having Snapdragon 675SoC delivers 11 hours of video playback, 11 hour of video streaming, three hours of 4K video recording, 7 hour of gaming and upto 5 days of music playback on a single charge. 

It is expected that snapdragon 675 SoC will be available in devices in the first half of 2019.
