Why liquid oxygen is used in Rockets?

Hello friends
We always wander about the fuel used in our rockets because sometime we heard that liquid oxygen is also used in a rocket as fuel.
So friends today we are going to discus about the fuels used in rocket and how oxygen is important in that fuel.
So friend let get start….

We all know that to run any kind of machine we need fuel to run it, and we also know that to get energy we need to burn the fuel and to burn the essential thing is Oxygen. I thank you all sometime observe the air in late pipe of your motorbike or car. And if you not observe that pine do you ever wonder why there is an air filter in your motorbike or car. This is because in your engine the fuel is burned to get energy and to burn that the pipe sucks air which contains oxygen.

Have you ever think how much force is needed to overcome the force of gravity? Yes the gravity also pull the rocket to its surface but the rocket should create so much thrust to overcome that. The earth is a massive body which has a mass of 6×10*5 ( 10 to the power 5) kg which means it has so much pulling force.
If we calculate we will find that at a height of 1000km above the earth surface the gravitational force on a 10kg mass is about 75% of its value on Earth.
This means that even if a rocket reaches space the force of gravity will still pull it back towards the earth. It shows that the rocket should generate more thrust to travel further which means the rocket should burn more fuel in less time interval.

You all know that liquid fuel is very good for our car and bikes so it is also good for the rockets also.
“Liquid fuels are energy generating molecule that can be harnessed to create mechanical energy, usually producing kinetic energy.”
If we talk about the fuel used in rocket then we concluded that the petroleum used as rocket fuel is a type of highly refined kerosene, called RP-1 in the United States.

In some other countries hydrogen is also used as a rocket fuel.
But every fuel needs oxygen to burn. Rockets for outer space did not get oxygen from surrounding so it should carry its own oxidizer. It can be premixed in solid propellants or in the form of liquid Oxygen (LOX). LOX would keep in a different fuel tank in the rocket and mixed with the rocket fuel RP-1 right before burning.
“ the primary performance advantage of liquid propellants is due to the oxidizer. Several practical liquid oxidizer ( liquid oxygen, nitrogen tetroxide and hydrogen peroxide) are available which have better specific impulse than the ammonium perchlorate used in most solid rockets, when paired with comparable fuels .”

Its seems better to use hydrogen as fuel and oxygen as Oxidizer because the both can used by mixing them and the byproduct we got by burning it is water only, so it is also called as a clean fuel.
So friends I think now you understand why oxygen is used in rocket.
